HIV in View – A coalition for change

1. The free photo collection from Shutterstock and ViiV Healthcare showcases the everyday lives of people living with HIV in different parts of the world.

2. The campaign aims to dissolve the stigmatization of those living with HIV, as living with this infection today is quite different from ten years ago. Thanks to advancements in prevention and treatment, the life expectancy of successfully treated patients is also increasing.

3. Despite ongoing innovations, patients still face the challenges of stigma, which affects their quality of life. Authentic representation of the lives and experiences of people living with HIV is key in the fight against negative attitudes related to the disease.

4. This intention inspired the idea of collaboration between ViiV Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company belonging to GlaxoSmithKline, and Shutterstock, one of the world's most popular and recognized online photo service providers. Within this framework, Shutterstock and ViiV Healthcare created a freely accessible image collection.

HIV in View” image gallery 7. – moving away from stereotypical images – contains photos that can be downloaded for free under a standard license, showcasing what it means to live with this disease today. 8. Users requiring an enhanced license must pay a higher licensing fee, the proceeds of which are donated to a non-profit organization that helps fund the fight against AIDS.. 9. The free image collection tells the story of what it is like to live with this disease today in different parts of the world.

 

10. Launched on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2020, the gallery features series of images showing real people living their everyday lives. We can see their mornings, honest, often intimate, everyday moments. They have loved ones and friends, they have jobs and leisure time, they get frustrated, or walk their dogs. The images do not show patients to be avoided, but.

11. people, 12. just like us., 13. The photos and stories do not reflect the fear that once surrounded those living with HIV, but are filled with inspiring examples that show how much the situation has changed for those affected.

14. This wonderful project could not have come to fruition without the support of people living with HIV who have publicly embraced their identities and shared their stories, which hopefully help change perceptions about the disease.
